I live in a very busy neighborhood. Now that I am retired I watch the activity out my living room window on a daily basis. There are at least six feral cats that roam up and down the street and drive my Jack Russell dog insane. People come and go and many leave their pets behind. I have paid to have the local shelter take a couple of them. I have even adopted one and had it spayed so I could find a home for it.
This past week my neighbor decided that his cat, which he got last Christmas liked to be outside. The problem with this is that the cat has been sitting on his porch crying for hours In blizzard weather. It is starving. If you know anything about Pennsylvania, Great Lakes weather, last week was so bad we were talked about on the weather channel. The cat doesn’t want to be outside. I think my neighbor is tired of it and I think he has put it out for good. So, I fed the cat on the blizzard day and waited to see what would happen. Two days later, the cat was crying again, so I went over and asked him if it was his cat. He told me it was. I explained that I didn’t want trouble and told him how the cat was crying. He told me it has enough to eat. I then asked him why it was in all my neighbors garbage? He kept repeating that it had enough food.
Along with the humans, the door gifts can be made available to the pet. The house of the pets should be unique and different to meet with the requirements and needs. The solution to the problems should be perfect and the right one.
I don’t know how this will end. I just know I am so tired of people getting animals and not being responsible for them. People make fun of the animal hoarders that go off the deep end and have thirty pets in their houses in deplorable conditions. I completely understand their feelings and why they take them into their homes. Thousands of animals are put to sleep every year at the local animal shelters because people do not think of the consequences of buying a pet. I suspect that one day, I will gather up the cat and take it to a shelter and pay the twenty-five dollars for them to take it. They I will hope someone will adopt it and give it a good home.
Kittens are darling. So are puppies. But, they need constant care and training to turn into the pet one brags about. They need time and they cannot train themselves. When you grow tired of the pet that you have not trained, don’t throw it out in the street for someone else to look after it.
I have two cats and a Jack Russell dog that were abused and neglected animals. I cannot take in anymore. It breaks my heart to hear an animal crying because a human is an idiot. I would like to tie my neighbor to a tree with no food for two days in this weather and let him truly understand how it feels to be cold and hungry!
This Christmas, when you think a cute little animal would look great under the tree, try to realize that it will eat your gifts, leave a puddle under your tree and keep you awake the greater part of the night. If you don’t have it spayed or neutered, it will give you back the gift that keeps on giving. There will be more chewing, puddle leaving mouths to feed. People like me are tired of your irresponsible behavior! ####TITLE####
